JSM are excited to be working with a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy based in London. Job Summary:JSM are seeking an experienced person at either Associate or Associate Director grades to join a Development Infrastructure team in London and to contribute towards its continuing success.The London Development Infrastructure team specialises in providing high level advice to mainly private sector clients on planning and design issues relating to Highways, Public Realm, Signal Design, Drainage, SuDS, Flood Protection, Earthworks and Service Co-ordination on Residential, Retail, Industrial and Commercial Developments, both in the UK and overseas. We also provide advice on the implications of climate change and wider sustainability issuesCore Functions:Your principal role will be day-to-day project management and project leadership, the undertaking of concept studies and strategies with hands-on design, leading to planning applications or construction drawings. You can expect to be active on a number of projects and client accounts at any given time. You will be supported by a team of experienced technical staff of various grades to whom you will be expected to provide mentoring and support.You will be responsible for ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, programme and technical standards and meet QA, CDM and SHEQ requirements.The position will also involve liaison with clients and fellow professionals, preparation of fee proposals, business development and work winning duties, and financial control of projects when acting as a project manager.Preferred Qualifications/Education/Work ExperienceYou will have substantial post graduate (or equivalent) experience and either have been awarded Chartered status (CEng, MICE, MCIHT, MCIWEM) or have equivalent commercial experience and responsibility. You should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of and experience in drainage, highway, utility and development design as well as a wide knowledge of the Development Industry.Preferred Competencies Skills: You will be able to produce technical reports, site appraisals, design calculations, construction drawings and in general demonstrate technical independence within the field of Development Infrastructure design. You will have a good knowledge of the relevant design codes such as Sewers for Adoption, DMRB, Manual for Streets and Manual for Streets 2 and Local Authority Design Guides and be well versed in the preparation of drawings for Contract Documents and S278, S104 and S38 Agreements. You will be aware of current and emerging technical and planning guidance on climate change and sustainability.You will be fully conversant in the use of WinDES, AutoCAD and PDS software and be able to direct and check design output making use of this software.You will need to have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances. You will have particular experience in liaising with clients, co-professionals and design teams. Also experience of liaising with highway, water, statutory and local authorities in negotiating the necessary outline and detailed technical approvals.Knowledge:You will have a good knowledge of the legal processes, planning, design, design software, technical consents process, adoption and contract procedures for the provision of sewers, SuDS, flood protection, highways and utilities in new developments and regeneration projects and how if, applied effectively, these skills combine to add value to a client's development proposal. You will also have a robust knowledge of the financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering both large and small projects.Behaviour:A "self-starter" who possesses the drive, enthusiasm and flexibility to meet the demands of the role. Able to take responsibility and be accountable for own workload and be comfortable working within multi-disciplinary teams.
