Acre has been engaged by a leading commodities company foundation to hire an accomplished Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Programme Manager.Reporting directly to the CEO of the foundation, the successful individual will manage the foundation's WASH investment portfolio. You will be instrumental in increasing demand and sustainable access to improved water sources and hygiene and you will develop two overarching goals of the WASH portfolio: improve health through reduction of diarrhoeal disease and enable women and girls to manage their hygiene and sanitation services including menstrual hygiene management (MHM).Key Responsibilities:Fund transformational, sustainable, scalable and replicable investments in developmentSupport and strengthen government, private sector and community systems to provide sustainable health, WASH, education and employment opportunitiesShare models of evidence based best practice that can be scaled by government, private sector and/or communitiesManage projects and oversee them from concept note to final application stage and monitor the ongoing process of grantsExpand engagement and leverage the knowledge base of the foundation worldwideThe WASH Programme Manager will work alongside three other Programme Managers, as part of a small team, to increase the impact of the foundation making fewer but larger investments in exemplary projects. To put this into context, in 2015, the foundation supported 23 WASH projects with 18 partners, in 17 countries and made 10 new grants. 66% of these WASH grants were made in Africa, 19% in Asia and 9% in Latin America.Skills and capabilities:Ability to manage a finite budget and identify appropriate projectsDemonstrable understanding of the global WASH context, having kept abreast of developments within the WASH sectorProven experience working in developing countries in international developmentTrack record of processing projects and overseeing them from concept note to final application stageMaster's Degree in International Development or another relevant subject.
