Acre has been engaged by a leading organization in the waste industry to identify an Environment Manager to support and implement the environmental agenda across a number of sites in North London. The company's scope includes; recycling, composting, waste transfer, and energy from waste centres, which provides sustainable waste management services across the capital.Reporting into the Head of Compliance, the Environmental Manager will lead on all relevant environmental and management systems and ensure these are communicated to all interested parties. This person is responsible for monitoring all environmental activities achieving high level of compliance for relevant environmental, legal, procedural and contractual requirements.Key Responsibilities To advise and assist Directors and Managers on all issues regarding compliance with environmental legislationTo prepare new, or modify existing waste management licenses/permits and communicate with the Environment Agency Officers as appropriate ensuring the organization is viewed positivelyImplement and maintain all group premises documented management systems in the requisite format - ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001To undertake environmental & compliance audits at all facilities consistent with the audit programmeThe ideal candidates will have experience of working on similar sites and have industry experience in; waste/energy/power generation industry. You will also have experience in working with and applying for permits from environmental authorities.Skills and Experience required:A diploma level or equivalent qualification in an environmental related subjectPreferably 5+ years' experience in waste management; preferably in both operational and regulatory rolesAn auditing qualification or auditing experience to 2 of the following standards - ISO 9000:2000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001Comprehensive knowledge of environmental and safety legislation with experience in communicating with the Environment Agency, other regulatory bodies and customersFull UK driving licenceThe organization has won a number of awards and continues to innovate and lead the industry.
