Climate Change Advisor (x2) Directorate: Environment/Sustainability As Climate Change advisor at HS2 you will support the development of the technical quality, specifications, standards and assurance for the climate change adaptation, carbon management and resilience aspects of the HS2 programme. About the role: Assist with review of draft text for climate change risk assessments and mitigation measures, ensuring the information is accurate and complete. This will cover a wide range of stages, including EIA, GI, detailed design and construction. Assist the Climate Change Specialist on scoping, tendering and project managing those route-wide activities undertaken by consultants, such as surveys and on-going design. Work closely with the Delivery Teams and other project elements and assist with the development of inputs to their programmes, helping to ensure that carbon minimisation requirements are properly integrated. Organise, attend and follow up meetings with stakeholders. Work with consultants in developing consenting approaches for works likely to affect carbon emissions and ensure all conditions are met by Phase 2 of the HS2 programme. Work closely with the Phase 2 team during the EIA and continuing development of the route and provide input on climate change (carbon) related issues.  About You: Degree or equivalent in a relevant environmental subject combined with working towards chartership with a relevant body. Knowledge of EIA and climate change legislation, policy and best practice guidance across a range of areas including carbon assessment and management in the built environment. Technical expertise in climate change; for example, carbon modelling and reporting, climate change risk assessment and adaptation of infrastructure design to climate change. Experience dealing with climate change issues on large scale construction projects at the options, EIA, design and construction stages. Experience developing pragmatic analysis and mitigation strategies. Experience of communicating, project managing and negotiating with a wide range of multidisciplinary stakeholders such as Agencies, Environment/Engineering specialists and external engagement with stakeholders.
