Our client is a specialist ecological consultancy, providing a wide range of services to private and public sector clients. They employ a number of ecologists across two offices in the Midlands and continue to enjoy growth across the board. As a result, they have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, diligent and hardworking ecologist prepared to help move the company forward. The role Most pressingly, to be based in Derby, our client requires an experienced ecological professional with a Bat Licence (Class 2 preferably) to: help manage projects; complete a range of surveys and write a range of reports, licence applications and other related written elements. Project and client portfolios are varied and growing, involving some of the largest and most prestigious projects currently available in the UK. The candidate You must be an excellent team worker with a proven track record in Ecological Consultancy. You should be confident to take the lead on surveys and in managing projects, but modest enough to provide assistance to your colleagues at any grade whenever this is needed. Ideally, you would have: at least one degree in Ecology or a related field; at least 5 years of Ecological Consultancy experience (or a much longer term of experience for non-consultancy backgrounds); hold a Natural England survey licence for Bats (ideally Class 2) with experience of applying for mitigation licences; excellent written and oral communication skills; have or be eligible to apply for full CIEEM Membership; GIS and/or AutoCAD mapping experience; the ability to manage multiple ecological projects simultaneously; botanical survey ability sufficient to complete Phase 1 Habitat Surveys.  Experience, other survey licences and demonstrable competence surveying herpetofauna, mammals and botany would be viewed as beneficial and other areas of specialism such as ornithology or EIA production would be considered. Note that you MUST have a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle, although hire vehicles can be provided.
