EMS Manager Job Reference: TD042 Location: Birmingham Directorate: Technical Salary: Competitive As Environment Management Systems (EMS) Manager at HS2 you will lead in the development and maintenance of an appropriate framework, programme and strategy for the delivery of an EMS in accordance with the International Standard ISO 14001. You will be tasked with effectively delivering a compliant EMS within HS2 Ltd and the broader supply chain.         About the role: Develop and oversee the delivery of EMS (and related policies/plans) for HS2 in keeping with programme needs, statutory requirements and broader external requirements in order to deliver on topic related commitments, including finalising and assuring related Corporate, Phase One and Phase Two topic plans. Coach, up-skill and influence colleagues from across the organisation to ensure EMS issues are key considerations in project decision making and management processes and start to shift the culture in this area, including working alongside the delivery owners to jointly develop and track performance against plans. Lead a small team of technical experts, setting objectives, reviewing performance and participating in selection/promotion decisions to ensure that staff have the necessary skills and understanding to deliver the team objectives. Manage and have accountability for key external stakeholders’ requirements around specific EMS issues (within the overall consultation strategy) in order to develop and implement a fit for purpose EMS. About You: Degree (or equivalent) or Masters in a relevant environmental or technical subject combined with membership of a relevant professional organisation. Understanding of environmental issues, legislation, policy. Track record of leading EMS or relevant management systems on a major infrastructure project or within a large organisation, including leading on change management to embed practices, policy development experience, supply chain exposure and EMS performance measurements. Excellent knowledge of ISO 14001, and best practice. It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.                                                                           About Us: High Speed 2 (HS2) will be the UK’s new high speed rail network.
