Our client is currently recruiting for an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer to join Their well-established and experienced team in Hampshire office.  The Geo-services teams combine specialists in Engineering Geology, Geotechnics, Hydrogeology, Tunnelling, Underground Engineering and Ground Investigation, who investigate, assess and manage ground-related risks for all forms of projects.  The specialists in our clients Geo-services units assist clients in the management of ground-related risks within the natural environment and for all forms of development, from residential and commercial buildings to major, multidisciplinary projects such as roads and harbours. As an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer the succesfull candidate's main responsibilities will include: Undertaking geotechnical desk studies and the derivation of ground models for engineering projects. Conducting walkover surveys.  Providing scope, technical specification, site supervision, interpretation and reporting on ground investigations.  Producing Ground Investigation Reports and Geotechnical Design Reports. Producing designs for earthworks, slope stability, foundations and retaining structures. Liaison with clients and stakeholders. Assisting with project management and the preparation of proposals and tenders. A successful candidate will possess the following:  Degree in Civil Engineering, or geotechnical engineering.  Demonstrable post-graduation experience.  Membership of the ICE or equivalent. The ability and ambition to become a Chartered Engineer. A good understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical analysis. Familiarity with soil and rock description and laboratory testing to EC7. Good communication skills both oral and written.  Experience of report writing and contractual communication will be an advantage. Relevant experience of working overseas and on site would be an advantage as would experience in assisting with, or preparing, bids and tenders. Valid UK driving license. Willingness to travel within the UK and undertake assignments in the UK and overseas.
