Reporting to the Operations Director. The purpose of the role is to provide specialist knowledge and direction to the leadership and management teams on matters associated with the Environment. Lead on the management of environmental legal compliance and reporting. Monitor existing performance and provide ambitious future direction on Environmental Management for Ringway Jacobs. General Responsibilities: Define ambitious environmental strategies for Ringway Jacobs. Provide Leadership and focal point for technical guidance on all aspects & impacts analysis and develop environmental protection controls. Develop and produce reports for Senior Management and corporate centre on the current position of energy, carbon and waste. Work closely with statutory authorities and industry groups representing Ringway Jacobs (RJ) corporately. Technical Responsibilities: Development of impact and aspects register and undertake aspects and impacts analysis and develop environmental protection controls. Carry out environmental legal compliance audits. Maintain and be accountable for processes, procedures for the environmental management system. Lead on contract sustainability initiatives. Lead on the relationships with enforcement authorities. Produce environmental reports for contract and corporate boards. Investigate contract environmental incidents and near misses. Evaluate and audit contract site waste management plans. Produce and maintain environmental programs and annual reports. Carry out environmental legal compliance evaluations. Identify new and/or amended legislation and assess the impact on the contract organisation. Carry out Environmental internal audits and develop reports and actions as appropriate. Undertake training on environmental matters and provide guidance and leadership on training requirements. Communicate and engage with all staff on the correct use of the Ringway Jacobs environmental management system ISO 14001. Develop and produce reports as requested on the current position of energy, carbon and waste. Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Internal Auditor for ISO 14001 – Environmental IEMA Member WAMITAB qualified. People Skills: Team Working – Is seen as approachable, supportive and offers encouragement to other team members. Is prepared to help others out regardless of whether they are in the same team or department without seeking personal recognition. Does not take praise alone. Networking: Developing and maintaining a range of internal and external contacts that provide information, resources or knowledge in the achievement of objectives. Administration: Ensures all company records are correctly completed and filed appropriately. Any business critical data is kept securely filed away and backup copies are kept. Consistently completes accurately and in a timely fashion all documentation, ensuring that any relevant supporting material is included. Delivery: Planning & Organisation: The ability to prioritise in a logical, cost effective sequence the different facets of the work. Quality of Work: Consistently produces output on a ‘right first time basis’. Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure that all output is appropriately checked and approved before issue. Written Communication: Ensures that all work is correctly laid out and grammatically correct. Keeps the tone of the communication neutral to avoid misunderstanding or ambiguity. Personal Attributes: Flexibility: The ability to adapt to changing circumstances whilst still achieving effective output. Shoes a willingness to think innovatively and try new ideas. Self-Management: Requires little in the way of constant supervision or chasing. All tasks are completed accurately and on time. Is organised and able to move work around in order to meet revised deadlines. Image: Comfortable operating in a local authority environment and mindful that they are representing the client organisation. To carry out any other reasonable duties that may be directed or implied from time to time commensurate to the post and/or organisational requirements.
