Key to its ongoing development is the appointment of a Head of Environment an individual who will provide strategic direction to the Groups response to environmental risks and opportunities as well as the ongoing development of its environmental management system. Reporting to the Groups Compliance Director and with 2 direct reports, you will lead, inspire and provide direction to some 20 environmental personnel across the UK wide business. You will develop and oversee the implementation of strategic environmental goals; identify risks and the relevant corresponding measures; oversee the ongoing development of the environmental elements of the compliance management system; maintain group wide environmental competencies; advise all the business units and the Board on environmental matters; monitor legislation and ensure compliance; deliver environmental audit. An Environmental graduate who is willing to travel nationwide and with proven management and leadership skills, it is essential that you can display a background covering all aspects of this vitally important role. You must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the group as well as with government agencies and regulators. A detailed understanding of current UK environmental legislation is essential and a knowledge of maritime legislation would be desirable.
