Our client are a Leading Ecology Consultancy who are now seeking to recruit a Senior / Principal Bat Ecologist located in London. Main job role: to be involved in all areas of work but with an emphasis on dealing with protected species issues, in particular bats. Will also assist with the delivery of training sessions and workshops. Main duties: -Manage staff and individual contracts, in order to deliver high quality ecological consultancy services within budget and to meet deadlines -Be involved in costing work and preparing tenders, liaising with clients, other consultants and consultees; acquiring data from third parties -Organising and supervising sub-contractors and other staff -Undertaking field work, preparing maps and writing and editing reports Skills and Qualifications required for this role: -Full Member of the CIEEM -Minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience habitat and protected species surveys, EIA, HRA, BREEAM and CfSH -Particular expertise in bat ecology and be in possession of a survey licence  -Four or more years' experience of report writing, including production of non-standard research led reports -Critically review of own work and minimum 2 years of reviewing others work -Minimum 2 years of managing a team largely focussed on protected species surveys and assessments -Experience of writing EPSM licences for bats and one or more of the following: great crested newts, dormice. Ideally, have been a named ecologist on one or more EPSM licence. -Experience of producing ecology chapters as part of EcIA for complex projects. -Up to date knowledge of EU and UK legislation and policy -Up to date knowledge of, and familiarity with, survey guidance for a range of protected species This role requires you to travel and possibly work away from home, so a Full & Clean driving licence is essential to apply for this role.
