Our client is a Water Treatment company, looking to recruit a Water Hygiene Technician to carry out the required Legionella monitoring of hot and cold water systems in accordance with HSE ACOP L8, HSG274 Part 2 and the Company's contractual agreements. Responsibilities of the position include: - To carry out routine monitoring of hot and cold water systems, including temperature checks, visual inspection of assets and water sampling in accordance with ACOP L8, HSG274 Part 2 and the clients' agreements - To carry out the cleaning / servicing of assets and outlets in accordance with clients' agreements - To undertake a site specific health and safety risk assessment for all sites under their responsibility and to implement the controls arising out of the assessments - Manage time / work efficiently to ensure all sites under their responsibility receive the correct number of visits and tests as specified in the clients' agreements - To demonstrate a good working knowledge of the respective legislation and guidance material (HSE ACOP L8, HSG274 Part 2, Water Regulations) and where knowledge is lacking to carry out the necessary research and / or highlight training needs to the Service Manager - Provide technical advice on Legionella to clients - Record all aspects of the Legionella inspections on a PDA - To maintain DBS clearance to enable working in facilities with vulnerable persons - To provide recommendations and prices for remedial works in order to reduce the risks from Legionellosis - To ensure that the monitoring equipment, namely the thermometers, are 'calibrated' in accordance with the company's calibration procedures - To take on emergency call-outs wherever required when practicable and work with other Hygiene colleagues to ensure call-outs are responded to within reasonable timescales - To work effectively in order to keep running costs to a minimum - To be professional at all times when dealing with clients and potential clients - To keep the Company vehicle in good, clean working order and to comply with the requirements of the company's Use of Vehicles on Company Business Policy, particularly with respect to maintenance of the vehicle and safe and economical driving - To wear the company uniform (provided) at all times during working hours and ensure it is laundered and ironed as necessary Key Activities include: - General administrative duties as part of your role, i.e. filing, photocopying, data entry, word processing - Provide on-site service additions or jobs as and when required - Competently use mobile phone, PDA or any other software provided (training given) - Tidy stock room as and when required - Ensure job sheets sheets are submitted to the office at least weekly and ensure the PDA is docked minimum of once per week - Ensure all jobs sold are phoned through to the office immediately and paperwork submitted within reasonable timescales The right candidate must have: - C&G Certificate in Legionella - Hot and Cold Water Systems - Minimum of 2 years' experience in the water hygiene service industry Essential: - Computer literate, with excellent experience of Word, Excel, Internet and Email. Must be good at working with live databases. - Ability to work to deadlines - Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills (Time Management) - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Attention to detail is critical - Good selling skills and confident telephone manner - The ability to work safely and not to put themselves and others at risk of harm - Have a good working knowledge of water systems - The ability to manage own workload and cope under pressure - Confident personality, familiar with dealing with people in a range of situations and an excellent attitude - The ability to work as part of a team and independently - A flexible approach to working due to the nature of the role - Be prepared to travel
