Acre has been engaged by a well established residential developer to identify a new Sustainability Manager. With sustainability running through the heart of their business, you will work from their regional office in South East London. This is an operational role in an exciting part of their business, with one of their flagship redevelopment sites, which is being run by the Main Board Director for Sustainability. You will assist the business with the management of sustainability and their overall vision in order to meet local aspirations and to help the group work towards its aim of being a world-class company.The key areas of responsibility will be:Raising awareness of sustainability and the group's framework via both formal and informal training of staffWorking with project teams throughout the whole development process from land buying to design, the purchase of goods and services and build, through to sales and customer serviceUndertaking frequent visits to construction sites to assess compliance with the in-house environmental management system and making recommendations for improvementAssisting in the accurate collation, analysis and reporting of data (such as waste volumes and utility use) to enable the assessment of performance against sustainability targetsKeeping up-to-date with the sustainability agenda, new legislation and best practice guidelines and understanding how they may affect the companyWorking as part of the Group's Sustainability Committee to drive good practiceThe right candidate will hold a degree in a relevant subject and will have several years of experience in an operational sustainability role, preferably within the built environment. You will be motivated and enthusiastic about promoting sustainability. You must also be confident, articulate and resilient in your approach, with the ability to apply sustainability principles in a commercially focussed manner.You will also haveConfidence in working with people at all levels in an organisationThe ability to motivate people to change their behaviourExperience of delivering trainingGood knowledge of sustainability issues within the construction/house building industryA broad view of sustainability, focussing not only on environmental issues, but also the relative importance of social and economic impacts of our activitiesThis is a fantastic opportunity to a join a business with sustainability running through the core of their business.
