Reducing transport emissions. Introducing Ultra Low Emission vehicles. Tackling climate change. Making London’s air cleaner. Cutting down on waste. These are just some of the many environmental challenges we face here at TfL. And, should you join us as an Environment Manager, you could soon be playing a big part in addressing quite a few of them.  Day-to-day, you’ll ensure we meet all statutory and non-statutory requirements relating to the planning, designing, maintaining and operation of a better transport system. You’ll also do all you can to make sure that the transport system is sustainable and efficient and acceptable to customers and stakeholders alike. This will involve carrying out environmental assessments and evaluations to ensure our projects and operations meet the highest environmental standards and managing projects and initiatives to meet TfL environmental objectives. Leading compliance checks and audits relating to environmental legislation and best practice will be important too, as will managing external consultants to carry out further research, reporting and assessments. And, when it comes to providing technical input and evidence to support the development of TfL and GLA environmental policy and strategy or liaising with a wide range of audiences regarding possible technical issues again, it's you we’ll turn to. To succeed, you’ll need a relevant qualification at degree level or above and professional membership/qualification of a recognised professional Institution (e.g. IEMA), or equivalent experience. We’ll also be looking for a significant track record in the field of environmental management, assessment and assurance, ideally related to transport, construction, or urban realm projects. Used to managing staff and developing and managing projects to deliver work to time, budget and quality, excellent research and analytical skills and an understanding of business case development and appraisal methods and techniques are also essential. Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex issues and react to changing priorities are also must haves. What’s more, you’ll need to be comfortable communicating complex technical information to a range of audiences and aware of the political context in order to deliver in a fast-paced, political environment. Adept at building strong relationships and able to influence at a senior level, a flair for facilitating joint decision-making with key decision-makers in highly political environments will also be key to your success. In return we offer exceptional benefits including 30 days' holiday plus public and bank holidays, a final salary pension scheme, free Tube travel and travel concessions including discounted Eurostar travel, performance-related pay and private medical benefit.
