Acre has been engaged by a FTSE 250 developer to identify a new Group Sustainability Advisor. With sustainability running through the heart of their business, you will work from their Group Head office in Surrey, reporting into the Group Sustainability Manager within a wider team of circa 14 sustainability professionals. You will assist the business in working towards its aim of being a world-class company. This will include assisting with the development of their sustainability strategy and helping to monitor progress and report against their aims. Key areas of responsibilityKeep up-to-date with the sustainability agenda, new legislation and best practice guidelines and understanding how they may affect the companyAssisting in the collation, analysis and reporting of data (such as waste volumes and utility use) to meet both legislative and corporate reporting requirementsPreparing guidance to assist the business in managing sustainabilityTrack performance at a Group level and compile written progress reportsHelp to communicate their strategy internally via the Group Sustainability Committee, staff communication and the intranetAssist with the communication of their strategy externally through corporate reporting and the websiteRegularly liaising with the Operational Sustainability team to help implement the business strategy and report on their performance. The successful candidate will likely hold a degree in a relevant subject and will be motivated and enthusiastic about promoting sustainability. You must also be confident, articulate and resilient in your approach, with the ability to apply sustainability principles in a commercially focused manner. The right candidate will also have:Good knowledge of sustainability issues, preferably within the construction/house building industry, but also out of sectorA broad view of sustainability, focusing not only on environmental issues, but also the relative importance of social and economic impacts of our activitiesStrong communication skills (verbal and written)Confidence in working with people at all levels in an organisationThe ability to motivate people to change their behaviour This is a fantastic opportunity to join an industry leading developer and make a real difference to the work they do and the communities in which they build.
