Our client enjoys a reputation as one of the country's leading environmental consultancies with specialist staff located throughout the UK. They are looking for a highly motivated Site Investigation Engineer to join their Geo-environment team. Our client has been appointed to a framework to deliver ground investigation works for a major new national rail infrastructure project. As a result they are seeking to recruit excellent candidates to be involved in large site investigation projects, including those forming part of this project.  The role will include being involved in the implementation of best practice and innovation on this large infrastructure framework and will be excellent career experience. Responsible for the management of site investigation works, including costing and procuring work from sub-contractors, dealing with suppliers and preparation of health and safety documentation. You will be logging soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:1999, Amendment 1, BS EN ISO 14688 and BS EN ISO 14689, producing factual reports and supervising site investigations across the UK. The ability to work on own initiative with support provided from more experienced staff will be required.  You will have a first degree or equivalent in geology, environmental science or a related subject,  have several years' experience in the organisation and supervision of a variety of size and types  of site investigations, as a minimum having managed site investigations of up to £25k and assisted on site investigations up to £250k. A good knowledge of health and safety requirements on site and for the development of health and safety documents including risk assessment and method statements; and suitably accredited in avoiding danger from underground services  (CAT and genny). 90% of the role will be site based and is likely to involve overnight stays therefore a willingness to travel around the UK and a full UK driving licence is essential. Although not essential PTS qualified, with rail experience and MOD security clearance would be desirable.
