Designated Environmental Adviser Salary: Competitive + Car + Benefits Location: Central and Eastern England (London / Home Counties / Thames Valley / Midlands) We are offering the opportunity for a Designated Environmental Adviser to work for The Clancy Group, one of the UK’s leading construction companies in the utilities sector. Based at our office in Harefield, you will be responsible for providing Environmental support to our Central and East Region – which covers London, Home Counties, Thames Valley and the Midlands area.  You will help to develop good management principles, procedures and cultures that in turn reduce the environmental risks to the Group’s Operations. Main Duties and Responsibilities Respond to site teams and directors in providing environmental advice specific to their business needs for all stages of work. Actively identify areas for improvement and give environmental advice to the site teams, senior managers and directors. Ensure that the company is proactive, up to date and complies with legislation relating to the environment and its management. Undertake management audits of the environment processes and measure performance. Communicate the findings and assist in the development of localised improvement plans. Undertake observational audits of, and also measure the delivery of environmental performance. Increase environmental awareness amongst team members and others by both formal and informal training techniques and coaching sessions. Investigate incidents to establish the root causation and preventative measures required. Communicate the findings and assist in the development of localised improvement plans. Develop and maintain a ‘continuous improvement’ ethos in the approach to environmental issues. Ensure Managers are focused on working in an environmentally friendly manner, identifying potential problems early, giving the necessary management support and technical advice to put them back on track. Participate in the development of environmental management systems and actively disseminate these principles so that a standardised approach is adopted through the Group. Indentifying how environmental issues impact on key business processes needed within the business, ensuring that these are taken into account to improve rather than constrain the business. Represent and promote the organisation’s environmental performance to third parties (e.g. clients and The Environment Agency). Support the organisational processes and cultures so that environmental issues are not a disqualifying function in the pursuit of business opportunities, and that improvements are driven into all the products and services that Clancy Group deliver by every member of the team. You will have previous experience working in an Environmental role in the Construction and/or Utilities industry and be a member of IEMA. A strong knowledge of the relevant environmental legislation and the ability to communicate with all levels of management and site based staff are essential.  You will be committed to being part of a continuing change in attitudes towards environmental responsibilities within a contracting environment and will be able to engage the business with new ideas to promote environmental best practice.
