The company Our client provides a broad range of environmental consultancy services to the development, infrastructure and construction sectors. They cover a wide range of activities, including: small scale outline planning and contracting services; complete phase 2 drilling and intrusive works; full stage 1 to 4 geo-environmental services and additional Ecological, Flood Risk, Acoustic and Air Quality consultancy support. The role The company requires an Environmental Consultant to undertake a combination of desk-based and on site work. Duties will include a variety of desk / office-based research, analysis and report writing and supervising a variety of site investigation techniques for geo-environmental and geotechnical investigations, including soil logging, scheduling laboratory analysis and report generation. This will include: conducting field surveys; collecting data to establish a baseline condition for levels of pollution or contamination for a site or area of consideration; interpreting data: this can include detailed assessment of data, often using software-modelling packages to identify whether 'contamination' exists in accordance with current legislation; development of conceptual models: this involves identification and consideration of the potential contaminant sources, critical pathways and receptors that could potentially have an adverse impact on the immediate and wider environment; report writing: completion of detailed scientific reporting, written in a manner that can be understood by non-technical people; communicating with clients, regulators and sub-contractors, e.g. analytical laboratories; researching previous investigations of a site to provide information to clients considering purchase; undertaking field work to identify previous activities on the site and any contamination; considering legislative issues for clients and maintaining an awareness of how legislation impacts projects. The candidate Successful candidates will have: an undergraduate or masters degree in a geo-environmental-related discipline around 1 to 2 years experience. EXPERIENCE OF WORKING IN THE UK IN THE SECTOR IS ESSENTIAL. experience of project work - planning, organising, controlling to deliver within budget, on time contaminated land remedial experience (advantageous) excellent verbal, written and communication skills with the ability to generate technical reports a flexible approach as there will be an element of travelling, combining office based and site works
