As a key member of the Safety team, you'll provide independent assurance that the SHE risks faced by SSE are adequately identified and managed to ensure that our people, assets and the environment are safe from harm. We employ over 20,000 people across the UK & Ireland and are committed to making energy better by being the best, most trusted and highly valued energy provider in the UK and Ireland.  As SHE Auditor, you will proactively engage with each of the business directorates and their respective SHE operations team to carry out independent reviews of risks being managed and their processes.  You will be required to travel to different sites to meet relevant staff, attend meetings with the business to develop an understanding of the business processes and conduct various types of SHE audit. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience of operating in a high hazardous industry, be familiar with the UK business environment and have knowledge of UK SHE regulatory regimes and legislation. Knowledge and understanding of systems and activities within construction and energy generation / distribution would be advantageous however not essential. You should hold an IEMA management certificate or equivalent, be a Chartered Member of IOSH (or equivalent professional body) and hold an auditor qualification e.g. OHSAS 18001 Auditor/Lead Auditor).  Previous experience of providing advice, support and guidance on SHE risk management and assurance processes, along with experience of leading an audit team, is essential. You should be an excellent communicator with the ability to liaise with, and influence, key stakeholders at all levels. You will demonstrate good report writing and presentation skills. You should demonstrate a “can do” attitude and enjoy finding solutions to problems. Above all, you should be well-organised and have the ability to work under pressure with the tenacity to succeed. Due to the level of mobility required in this role a full UK driving licence is essential.
