Our client is the leading fully independent health safety and environmental management consultancy, a criteria favoured by the HSE, in the UK. They have developed working partnerships with property management group. Due to continued growth and success our client is now looking to recruit an Operations Manager to join their Leeds based office.  The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that effective methods are put into place so that the company runs to its maximum productivity. As Operations Manager you will harness a working environment which encourages team work, energy and creativity.  The Operations Manager will review the business systems which are in place to ensure that they support the requirements of the company and will seek ways to reduce overheads and unproductive time. Key Responsibilities -  Maximise utilisation of operations department staff by co-operation with other high level managers, mainly the Sales Manager and Planning Manager. Co-operate with other high level managers, mainly the Quality Manager, to ensure that the company has sufficient skilled resource with the appropriate blend of skills to achieve operational targets. High level management of delivery of services, ensuring consistent application across the business, removing bottlenecks quickly and effectively. Ensure operations processes and procedures are applied consistently across the business. Use Management Information to identify delivery requirements and the resource required to support this delivery, including the Field Team, Laboratory Team and Database Team. Co-operate with other high level managers, mainly the Quality Manager, to ensure that the company has sufficient skilled resource with the appropriate blend of skills to achieve satisfactory delivery of services.. Identifying any potential operational issues and working with other Senior Managers to ensure that these are resolved.   Build and maintain close working relationships with all departments. Work with departments to identify needed improvements to current systems. Identify and manage innovation and improvement initiatives within operations department delivering benefits across the business. Lead, coach and develop the operational team in order to deliver or exceed their annual targets, identify future potential and develop individuals in line with business requirements. Manage and develop operational department staff either directly or utilising management structure  to ensure working practices are understood and adhered to, recommending and overseeing implementation of improvements accordingly. Oversee and be responsible for all services from operational site works to delivery, inclusive of managing the operational site staff to complete work within allotted time frames and management of site operational issues such as abortive visits where has been arranged to allow for works to proceed to meet timeframes. Oversee be responsible for the effective management and construction of all back office processes to allow for smooth and efficient delivery of all forward works to meet client and KPI's. Oversee and be responsible for all operational staff with regards to attendance and punctuality. Monitor performance and output of all back office functions to ensure all key areas are maximised at all time to deliver. Distributing workloads to allow all daily targets to be hit e.g. - Maximum number of reports per database team members per day.        - Maximum number of samples per day. Take direct action with site staff to retrieve outstanding information that is overdue. Provide feedback to HR Manager on the performance of operational staff to enable a detailed PDR and probation review. Direct involvement of performance management, disciplinary and grievance hearings. To be considered for this position successful candidates will have at least two years' experience in a similar role at management level or above and hold ILM Level 5 Diploma in Management or equivalent; Auditing Qualifications (Lead auditor) and Educated to a degree level. Excellent communication and inter personal skills, together with team player attributes; Knowledge and experience of contracts, SLAs and KPIs; Core understanding of Leadership and Management and Ability to understand and assimilate an organisations culture and profile to best formulate long term strategies.  In return the company are offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
