Our client a leading Environmental Consultancy are currently recruiting for a Graduate/Consultant grade Flood and Coastal Risk Management Specialist to join their office in South Wales The successful candidate will have a technical speciality (more than two years' experience) in one or more of the following areas: -Hydraulic modelling of river, sewer or coastal processes; Proficient in the use of TuFlow, ISIS or InfoWorks ICM; hydraulic modelling software packages and relevant supporting software packages (SMS, MapInfo, ArcGIS and / or QGIS) -Flood Estimation Handbook hydrological analysis methods, including the Statistical Analysis method, ReFH and with use of the FEH CD-ROM V3 and WinFAP V3 and must have applied these to a wide range of rural and urban catchments -Flood risk assessment for development at a variety of scales including specification and / or design of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS). -Environmental Impact Assessment in relation to flooding, water quality or hydrogeology -Deliver the above technical specialisms in the context of Local Authority flood risk services ranging from Strategic Flood Risk Assessments to delivery of duties under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010. -Be responsible for the technical quality of work carried out, providing some supervision of project components or providing technical skills as a technical specialist with minimal guidance -Review and check work (technical outputs) completed by others -Establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues -Work co-operatively across functions and business units to share information and ideas -Set an example to other team members, recognising the responsibility to train and assist others with their professional development and achieve the highest possible standards of work Qualifications Essential  -Bachelor level qualifications in engineering -Chartered membership of a recognised professional body or working towards Chartership -More than two years' experience in one or more of the technical specialities described above -Experience of working with the Environment Agency/ Natural Resources Wales, developers or Local Authorities in the context of flood risk management -Methodical and consistent working practices -Demonstrated technical skill in their nominated technical specialism (including associated software packages) -Excellent report writing skills -Proficient in a wide range of IT skills including Microsoft Office Desirable  -Masters level or higher qualifications in engineering -Full driving licence -Knowledge of project management techniques -Experience in client management -Good presentation and communication skills --Knowledge of economic appraisal techniques Ability to prioritise work under pressure and complete within deadlines -Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work -Ability to work independently or as part a team when needed In return our client offer a competitive salary with a generous benefits package
