Our client is a leading engineering, design and consultancy company that are now searching for a Senior Ecologist to join their busy team in Hampshire. Job role: -You will be responsible for ecology survey, assessment and reporting on ecology projects and ecology components of multi-disciplinary projects within the Environmental team.   -Experienced in carrying out ecology assessments with little supervision, you will also need to demonstrate experience of supporting and mentoring the technical delivery and development of other ecologists.  You will develop strong working relationships with other specialists and will need a flexible approach towards working across a broad spectrum of projects. -Strong track record in ecology survey and assessment including EIA and HRA.  As a minimum Phase 1 habitat surveys.  -Expertise in a number of the following would also be expected: reptiles, badgers, water voles, dormice, GCN, birds or botanical surveying. -Maintain liaison with other members of the environmental team in technical discipline (and other disciplines as required, for instance engineers) -Effective liaison with clients and project team members to communicate ecological issues and implications. -Implementing/supervising ecological mitigation works - ideally for protected species. -Liaising with and obtaining approval for ecological work with SNCOs and other stakeholders. -Preparing mitigation method statements, including obtaining licences where necessary -ideally for protected species (and experience of EPS licences would be a benefit). -Proven ability to prepare technical input to projects and bids and manage subcontractors.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills -CIEEM member or similar (CIWEM, IEMA etc); ideally would be Chartered Environmentalist or Scientist.  Preferably would hold Natural England/SNCO Licence/Class Licence for one or more species.                               The successful candidate will also be required to travel as part of this job so a full UK driving licence is essential In return our client offer a competitive salary with a generous benefits package
