The Scottish Parliament is committed to improving environmental performance and be an exemplar organisation, achieving 42% carbon reduction by 2020 from a baseline of 2005/06.  You will act as the champion for all environmental, sustainable development and climate change matters relevant to the Parliament.  You will also work with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement to achieve environmental targets; ensure compliance with reporting; maintain external certifications; and promote sustainability within our culture and values.  As 90% of the Scottish Parliament’s carbon footprint results from energy use, energy management will be a key area of focus for continuous improvement. You will need relevant experience with a strong track record of delivering environmental performance improvements.  A degree in a relevant discipline would be helpful.  Full membership of a professional body is highly desirable.  You must be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge of national environmental legislation and government policy and targets. You will be able to use your professional skills and knowledge to drive continuous improvement and deliver compliance with statutory requirements.  You will also have knowledge in advances in technology (energy and environmental) and the ability to appraise options and deliver financial savings to the organisation through the implementation of initiatives.  You will have excellent communication and influencing skills, able to deal with a wide range of stakeholders including at senior management level.
