This exciting position will suit an ambitious individual looking to step in to a challenging role that offers scope to develop a team and significant career progression  Location Flexible, our client has offices from Manchester down to Bristol including London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Gloucestershire Role Our client is a leading planning consultancy offering a range of services to a wide number of organisations across the UK They provide a full complement of sustainability planning services for developer clients to support a range of developments including residential, commercial and renewable energy through the planning process.   Due to continued work winning they are looking for an experienced professional to head up their sustainability team and provide consultancy services in the following areas   Sustainability statements Energy planning statements/strategies Renewable energy planning / strategies Low carbon energy feasibility studies Carbon audits / carbon reduction strategies Sustainable construction strategies Waste reduction / minimization strategies Sustainable waste management plans / statements Sustainability appraisals of potential development sites Sustainability planning advice for various stages of the planning process. In addition to the above you will be required to provide a leading role in developing new services and ensuring current services respond to changes in legislation, guidance and policy. As part of the role typical duties would include: Liaising with local authorities, clients and other members of the client’s business Providing sustainability advice as part of development planning Prepare technical reports to support planning applications to ensure developments meet requirements of national and local sustainability policies (specifically in relation to carbon emissions and energy and resource use); Requirements In order to deliver these key services you should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding / experience of the following areas: BREEAM, Code for Sustainable Homes and Building Regulations requirements Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) methodology and other methods for calculating energy efficiency Development planning and the planning process Local Plans and planning policy including examination process and written representation; Sustainability and environmental planning legislation Low carbon and renewable energy technologies such as district heating, solar hot water and biomass Sustainable building design and construction Sustainability and environmental issues within different sectors such as transport, waste, climate change, health, water and biodiversity Qualifications, Experience & Ability Educated to degree level (or equivalent) preferably with a post graduate qualification, in an appropriate environmental / planning / sustainability related discipline Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIBSE / IEMA Have a commercial outlook and behaviours, understanding the need to deliver results and satisfy clients while delivering  profitable business and assessing risk effectively Have a high and growing level of technical and professional competence Have well developed communication skills and relate well to clients A role model to others, motivating and inspiring them Have strong project and staff management skills Capable of managing a wide and complex workload Personable and a strong team player Reward and benefits Our client offers an exceptional salary and benefits, as well as a highly rewarding work culture.
