Our client is a successful specialist consultancy servicing clients within the private, public and voluntary sectors throughout the UK. They are now seeking a Principal Ecologist to work with a strong emphasis on project management to be based out of their London office. The ideal candidate will have the following: A relevant degree CIEEM membership A minimum of 10 years' experience working at senior level for an ecological consultancy Knowledge of covering Phase 1 and habitat surveys Knowledge of EIA and HRA, BREEAM and CfSH Excellent report writing skills  Confidence to deal with business partners and clients at a high level Ability to review others work  Ability to effectively communicate and liaise with clients and colleagues  Project management qualifications and experience Surveying skills in one or more protected species Survey licence in at least one or more protected species  Experience of writing EPSM licences  Experience of producing ecology chapters as part of EcIA for complex projects Recent knowledge of EU and UK legislation and policy Have a full, clean driving licence The role will involve: Managing major contracts Project managing and overseeing staff Being responsible for a team of people including Senior Ecologists Participating in business development including presentations to prospective clients, forecasting, costing and resourcing, and preparing tenders Undertaking survey work, in particular for protected species Preparing and submitting EPSM licences for bats and other protected species  Taking on and managing individual contracts, in order to deliver high quality ecological consultancy services within budget and to meet deadlines Assisting with the general running of the London office, in co-operation with other staff. Developing excellent relationships with clients and have experience of attending meetings with clients and design teams at a senior level Dealing with clients and business partners at a high level Displaying knowledge of relevant aspects of UK and EU environmental legislation and confidence when advising clients on wildlife issues during the development process Liaising with statutory bodies, planning authorities and NGOs.
