As a Water Resources and Flood Risk Specialist, you will be required to develop the technical quality, specifications, standards and assurance for the water resources and flood risk aspects of the HS2 programme. Specifically this will involve: Providing technical advice on water resources and flood risk, and quality of the EIA process; Designing and delivering specific workstreams in the water resources and flood risk aspects of the HS2 programme to ensure statutory and other requirements are met fully and within agreed timeframes; Contributing strongly to ensuring HS2 complies with relevant legislation and accords to best practice; Developing good working relationships and negotiate with the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities/Internal Drainage Board and others to cost balanced mitigation measures for the impact of HS2; Preparing and reviewing draft material for the HS2 water resources and flood risk programme in the lead-up to construction to ensure the HS2 programme designs in and mitigates its impact on water resources and flood risk. The successful candidate will be degree educated (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental subject combined with Chartered membership of an appropriate accredited body. You will have demonstrable knowledge of relevant policy and best practice guidance across a range of areas including flood risk assessment, surface water management and the Water Framework Directive.
