As the Environmental Specialist / Manager, you will provide leadership on environmental issues concerned with the construction delivery of the programme. This role offers a central role working within multi-skilled teams with other technical specialists, engineers and consultants to achieve the best value and effective management of the environment programme. Specifically, based within the HS2 Infrastructure Directorate and within the Area teams, the role will provide leadership on environmental issues concerned with the build, and will include: Leading the Area Team to manage work deliverables and tasks relating to the environmental specialisation input into the programme/budget and all issues arising within the construction delivery; Imparting knowledge of environmental measures and mitigation approaches; Environmental impact assessments; Undertaking external liaison with local authority stakeholders wildlife and conservation officers), Environment Agency and other organisations to develop approaches to investigation and recording methods; Making a positive contribution to a range of key projects and ensuring that they are driven to successful completion with innovate outcomes. For this key role, you will hold a Bachelor degree/MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant subject coupled with chartered status (or working towards). You will possess the knowledge and ability to perform successfully within the UK Environmental planning system and to conduct consultations with local authorities on planning matters. You will require specialist expertise within construction / delivery of one or more of the following: hydrology; BREEAM; or flood. A demonstrable track record in contract management and managing specialist consultants and contractors is also key, as is your proven ability to track environmental contract expenditure.
