Responsible to: Business Team Coordinator Investors in the Environment Consultancy PECT has worked with hundreds of organisations for over 15 years providing a range of resource efficiency and environmental management support aimed at helping businesses save money and reduce their environmental impact.  We continue to develop and deliver support for a range of business clients with a focus on EMS advice and resource efficiency auditing and now specialise in supporting large businesses to achieve ESOS compliance. Based: The post will be based at the Peterborough office. However the post holder will be expected to travel on a regular basis across the UK to deliver services. Overnight stays will be required (reasonable expenses will be covered as per organisation policy). Salary (per annum pro rata):  £24,000 - £27,000 (plus benefits) Closing Date for applications: 6th March 2015 Interview Date:  11th or 13th March. Start Date: 13th  April 2015 (or earlier) End Date:  9 month maternity cover, potential for extension Hours/Week:  37 hours per week Work outside normal hours:  The post holder will work normal office hours, however work outside these hours will be required. Job purpose: To provide high quality environmental consultancy services that are financially sustainable, to a range of clients. The role will predominately be delivering ESOS assessments to large business clients through an existing 1 year contract. To achieve significant improvements in the environmental performances of the clients supported, delivering tangible cost and carbon savings and other reputational benefits such as new or retained clients and compliance with relevant legislation. To support the development of the organisations environmental consultancy services, including undertaking training and professional development to enable delivery of new services. Key Responsibilities: To drive forward the environmental consultancy business plan and manage its implementation, ensuring that it is successfully delivered by monitoring financial performance and performance against targets and impact. To deliver a range of environmental consultancy services to clients including Environmental Management System (EMS) support, resource efficiency, carbon management. Specialise and focus on the delivery of ESOS Assessments for large business clients, delivering ESOS audits at individual sites and signing off ESOS Assessments for organisations. Working alongside the Marketing Manager to promote and sell funded and paid for services through developing and distributing marketing material, attending events and direct sales. To manage the task load and monitor performance of the Sales and Project Assistant, including supporting them to close sales by promoting packages of support to potential clients and securing sponsorship money. Getting involved in other Business Team project activities where necessary, including providing expertise as required. Managing project budget. To create, develop and maintain partnerships with a range of stakeholders from the private, public and voluntary sector. To manage relationships with funders and suppliers. On occasion be required to follow up with sales leads, to quote on behalf of sales, and to follow up, close and process the sale. To maintain and continually improve your own knowledge of Environmental Management and Environmental Legislation, attending training courses as required. To contribute to the wider work of PECT and assist the Chief Executive, Resources Manager, and Business Coordinator with a range of duties that ensures the efficient running of the Trust.     Selection Criteria: Essential Passionate about sustainability and about providing a professional, quality service. Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an environmental, business or science related discipline. Knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding climate change, environmental sustainability and carbon management. Minimum of 2-4 years proven experience of practical resource efficiency and carbon management support delivery and successfully engaging businesses to realise actual savings. Experience of implementing and auditing Environmental Management Systems to achieve certification against recognised standards including BS8555 and ISO14001. Experience of delivering resource efficiency and/or energy audits and reports for large businesses. Excellent knowledge of energy/resource reduction opportunities and ability to calculate associated financial and resource savings; knowledge of buildings, processes and transport as a minimum Ability and confidence to sell business support services, with a proactive and positive approach to selling to achieve set targets. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels. Excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet targets and prioritise conflicting demands. Ability to make decisions and act on own initiative; to self motivate to ensure successful project outcomes. Experience of project management including managing project budgets and resources. Ability and willingness to travel across the UK with overnight stays to deliver support, where possible using sustainable methods of transport (a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required). ESOS qualified or ability to pass the qualification. Able to undertake an audit at a variety of businesses premises, this could include for example, climbing of ladders or checking machinery. Desirable Experience of delivering ESOS audits and assessments. Registration on a ESOS Lead Assessor register. Experience in a customer facing role, including developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders from the private, public and voluntary sectors. Experience of working in a team environment. Professional qualification/accreditation e.g. Associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA), ISO14001 Lead Environmental Auditor, IEMA Registered Auditor. High proficiency in use of spreadsheets and databases.
