Our client, a leading environmental organisation and one of the largest regionally based consultancy and engineering services with offices around the UK is looking for a Senior Ecologist to be based in their Essex office to fulfil the following duties. Consultancy to assist with achieving points relating to land use and ecology for Code for                 Sustainable Homes and BREEAM assessments Leading the bat survey and mitigation work for the ecology team Undertaking design and management of ecological surveys Undertaking extended phase I habitat surveys and surveys for legally protected species Writing factual and interpretative reports, including method statements and management plans Designing and implementing ecological mitigation plans and managing site work Supervising and training current ecological employees Drafting site instructions and survey plans, certificates and correspondence Preparation of mitigation licence applications and negotiate directly with relevant statutory                 bodies (eg. Natural England) to obtain necessary approvals, as licence holder or named                              ecologist on the licence as required, in particular for bat and badger survey work The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:  Full driver's licence valid in the UK and use of a personal vehicle insured for business use Organised, with a confident and professional approach to daily tasks Able to prioritise workload Relevant degree Hold a protected species licence(s) Experience in holding and implementing Natural England mitigation licences for legally protected                 species (e.g. bats and badgers) for the purpose of development Excellent communication skills to allow effective liaison with planners, developers, professional                 advisors, contractors, landowners, the general public and others Report writing skills In return the client is offering a competitive package and benefits
