Principal Environmental Project Manager £39,965-£42,069 per annum Permanent, full time Solihull The role We’re looking for a dynamic and established environmental assessment professional to join our dedicated National Environmental Assessment Service (NEAS). NEAS supports our Flood and Coastal Risk Management function to deliver its most complex and challenging flood risk and coastal strategies, programmes and projects. Joining this national team, you’ll identify and manage the environmental risks associated with the flood risk programmes and projects carried out across the Midlands. Working closely with specialists from across the Environment Agency, statutory bodies, consultants and contractors, you’ll ensure that all these projects have minimal environmental impact, uphold high standards in environmental design and contribute to national and regional environmental targets. Day-to-day, you’ll take the technical lead on high risk, high level projects. You’ll also provide in-depth technical leadership and guidance to the rest of your team. Collaboration will be vital as you manage the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders, at all levels. You’ll be working across the Midlands and occasionally nationally so some travel and overnight stays should be expected. About you First and foremost, you’ll have extensive experience carrying out statutory environmental assessments and will be able to show us where you’ve managed high risk projects through to completion. You’ll most likely be working for an environmental organisation or consultancy, either way you’ll be a member (preferably Chartered) of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), or equivalent and be a champion of environmental risk management. Along with exceptional communication skills and a methodical, intelligent approach to problem-solving, you’ve a talent for relationship management and enjoy coaching and providing advice to team members. Your influencing and negotiating skills will be key in addressing environmental issues and delivering outcomes. A full UK driving licence is essential. About us The Environment Agency operates at the place where environmental change has its greatest impact on people’s lives. We work closely with a wide range of partners to make sure there is enough water for people and wildlife; reduce the risk of flooding; protect and improve air, land and water quality and apply the environmental standards within which industry can operate. Join us as a Principal Environmental Project Manager and you’ll play an important role in ensuring that future generations inherit a cleaner, healthier world.  Apply For further information and to apply, please click on the apply button below.  Closing date: 16.02.2015 We are committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve.
