Our clients UK Geotechnical team is well-established with a wealth of design and site investigation experience. Due to a steadily increasing workload our client is currently have an opertunity for a Senior / Associate Geotechnical Engineer to be based in Cambridgeshire. The ideal candidate will be degree qualified with demonstrable geotechnical experience in a commercial or consultancy environment post-graduation. Suitable candidates will be either chartered or approaching chartered status. Main Duties: Our client is seeking an individual with a passion for geotechnical engineering and willing to undertake a combination of site work, factual and interpretive reporting, foundation design and stability analysis throughout the UK. In addition the team are required to assist our international colleagues and the role may involve occasional international travel to complete these assignments. Typical duties will include: Design, procurement and supervision of ground investigations Preparation of factual and interpretive ground investigation and geotechnical reports Geotechnical assessments for temporary and remedial works Slope stability analysis and design of earthworks Foundation analysis The successful candidate will be expected to manage their own projects and play an active part in the development of the Geology and Geotechnics discipline as a key support service within our client's organisation. This is a role that will be client facing in a commercial consultancy environment. This will be a challenging position fully utilising existing skills and offering the opportunity to develop additional expertise. Person Specification Technical Skills, Abilities, Experience: Essential: IT literacy and proficiency in MS office applications Familiar with current UK best practice for ground investigation Basic knowledge of foundation design and settlement analysis Prepared to work away from the office, on site as required Prepared to accept short term overseas assignments Desirable: Experience in FE analysis Experience of overseas assignments Experience in the design of major earthwork structures Experience in slope stability analysis Education, Qualifications, Memberships: Essential: First degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or Mining Geology Desirable: Masters degree in Geotechnical Engineering Chartered status (CGeol or CEng) Personal Attributes: Essential: Professional & commercial Good interpersonal skills whilst interacting with colleagues, clients and contractors Ability to work in a team and independently Additional Requirements: Essential: Full driving licence
