Our client is one of the UK's leading firms of consulting engineers, with major operations throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia. They have grown into a worldwide organisation, bringing innovative solutions to international clients, offering multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy services spanning the whole of the construction industry. Our Clients are looking for an experienced geotechnical engineer in Yorkshire with good interpretative reporting and geotechnical design skills e.g. shallow foundations, piles, retaining walls. Duties will include design and management of ground investigations, preparation of desk studies and interpretative reporting, problem solving, foundation design and slope stability assessments.  Responsibilities will also include training and support of younger team members, project management, liaison with clients (both externally and internally from other sectors/offices).  We require someone with a working knowledge of relevant British Standards and familiarity with UK soils and rock.  Also a working knowledge of Word, Excel and geotechnical software.  Willingness to work both in the north and further afield both office based and on site.   Projects include rail, highways, infrastructure and development with clients including developers, major contractors, local authorities, major infrastructure suppliers and Network Rail. The successful candidate will need to have a Degree in engineering geology, civil engineering or similar.  Post graduate degree (MSc/MEng) in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, soil mechanics, foundation engineering etc. They will have a minimum of 5 years relevant post-graduate experience.  Be at or approaching chartered status (CEng / CGeol).   Have excellent written and spoken English. Hold a clean UK driving licence.  CSCS card and PTS an advantage.
