The Company Joining one of the leading civil engineering consultancies in Ireland, offering multidisciplinary services including buildings, bridges and road design, and in addition, Environment, Geotech Rail and contract administration. The role The successful candidate will take a leading role in ecological and biodiversity aspect  of  development  projects.  Working  in  an  integrated  team  of environmental  professionals  you  will  provide  advice  to  clients  and  team members,  with  responsibilities  for  management,  client  liaison,  undertaking field  surveys  and  reporting  (habitat  surveys,  protected  species,  EcIA  and  EIA chapters, licence applications etc.). The Person A degree in botany, ecology or related field; Minimum 6 years experience in ecological assessment; Membership of IEEM or equivalent organisation; Excellent botanical identification skills; Experience of preparing Natura Impact Statements/Reports; Experience as an expert witness; Demonstrable proof of sound field skills; Demonstrable experience in EcIA/EIA and ecological mitigation projects; Writing ecological Chapters as part of Environmental Impact Statements; Have  detailed  knowledge  of  relevant  aspects  of  National  and  EU  environmental legislation  and  confidence  when  advising  clients  on  wildlife  issues  during  the development process, as well in liaising with statutory bodies, planning authorities and NGOs; Ability to manage and work within a larger team; Excellent attention to detail and quality outputs; Fluent / highly proficient in spoken and written English; MSc qualification; (desirable) Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist or in the process of attaining Chartership; (desirable) Experience working in the role of Ecological Clerk of Works; (desirable) Experience using Geographical Information Systems e.g. ArcGis, MapInfo, etc. (desirable)
