Our client is one of the UK's leading environmental consultancies, specialising in landscape architecture, planning, ecology and management, dedicated to conserving, protecting and enhancing the environment. Their clients include a broad spectrum of private companies, as well as government and government agencies, and they also have a strong presence in the field of renewable energy. They are currently looking for Landscape Planners to join their small, integrated and friendly team based in Devon. You will be working on a diverse portfolio of projects including: Landscape and visual impact assessment (LVIA). Strategic studies such as landscape and seascape character assessments and sensitivity studies. Landscape design. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and planning. You will be expected to participate in all aspects of work, including assisting with generation of new business, writing proposals, project management and providing support to senior staff on large and complex projects. The exact nature of responsibility will depend on the level at which the appointment is made. The ideal candidates will be creative, qualified Landscape Planners with experience of undertaking landscape and visual impact assessment for renewable energy projects, and ideally also for electricity transmission infrastructure, as well as experience in landscape character assessment. Experience will preferably have been gained in private consultancy. Candidates should have a degree and/or a post graduate qualification in a landscape discipline, be CMLI or working towards Chartered status. A driving licence is required, as are good map reading skills, as a lot of the projects are field based. You must have excellent communication skills, and be able to plan and structure reports well and convey information in a clear and concise manner. You must be versatile and willing to work on a whole range of projects, including tasks relating to planning and research, and landscape design and implementation. An aptitude for research and problem solving, as well as high professional standards is required. A knowledge of/interest in relevant software packages including GIS, ReSoft, Autocad, Adobe CS (Photoshop and InDesign), 3D modelling, SketchUp will be helpful.
